The filmmaker & activist Jeff Gibbs returns to the podcast. He was on the podcast last summer when his documentary, “Planet of the Humans” premiered at the Traverse City Film Festival. Not such a surprise as that festival was founded and is largely programmed by Michael Moore who is also serves as Executive Producer on Jeff’s film. The documentary dares to say what no one will—that we are losing the battle to stop climate change because we are following leaders who have taken us down the wrong road, selling out the green movement to wealthy interests and corporate America. This film is the wake-up call to the reality we are afraid to face: that in the midst of a human-caused extinction event, the so-called “environmental movement’s” answer is to push for techno-fixes and band-aids. It’s too little, too late.

Now for the good news: “Planet of the Humans” premiered this past Tuesday free online. You can go to Michael Moore’s YouTube channel or to the film’s website and stream there this very moment. And I urge you to do so. The film is really important and at this moment in time we have a great opportunity to re-consider all of our existing assumptions and practices when it comes to healing the Earth.
