Filmmaker Todd Sklar (“Box Elder”) has made a new indie comedy, “Awful Nice“. He and his co-writer/lead actor, Alex Rennie, are the guests in the first segment of this episode of Filmwax Radio. The film is about to brothers who don’t get along at all. After their father dies, they drive to Branson, Missouri to clean up and prepare an old country house for sale. Christopher Meloni also stars. Chris & Alex’s film will have a screening at Rooftop Films on Friday night at Industry City in Sunset Park, Brooklyn.

In the second segment I’m joined by Brazilian filmmaker Petra Costa who has made a highly personal film about retracing her older sister’s journey to New York where she subsequently took her life. The film is called “Elena” and will have a Rooftop Films screening on Saturday evening on the roof of the Old American Can Factory in Gowanus, Brooklyn.
