Washington Post journalist DeNeen L. Brown is the guest in this first segment. She discusses her involvement in Dawn Porter’s recent documentary, “Rise Again: Tulsa and the Red Summer” which can be streamed on Hulu. The documentary follows DeNeen as she chronicles the discovery of a mass grave in Tulsa Oklahoma and investigates the reign of racial terror and legacy of violence that swept across the United States in the early 20th century.
Also, author & journalist, Victor S. Navasky, discusses his career and his career capping work of non-fiction “Naming Names” (Hill & Wang). The book is the seminal work on the Hollywood blacklist during the McCarthy era. Victor is publisher emeritus at Nation Magazine where he worked for decades. He currently is retired and living in the Berkshires.
