Jason Cortlund and Julia Halperin return to the podcast after a 400 episode hiatus. They last appeared on Ep 64 with their previous feature “Now, Forager”. The Austin-based filmmaking couple are back with a new film called “Barracuda” which premiered earlier this year at South by Southwest. A young British woman named Sinaloa (Sophie Reid) comes to Texas to find Merle (Allison Tolman), her half-sister by way of their dead country musician father. It doesn’t take long for Sinaloa to charm her way into Merle’s life. Her singing awakens something in Merle and erases any lingering doubts about their shared bloodline. But an all-too-familiar chaos comes with it, which soon starts to unravel Merle’s stable world. The film also stars JoBeth Williams, Luis Bordonada & Larry Jack Dotson, and is available on iTunes, Amazon & other on demand platforms.
Also, filmmaker David Rosfeld is finally on the podcast after one false start some years back (explanation on the podcast). David launched a Kickstarter campaign for a short film, “Bob & Dale”, to raise production costs. Please give the campaign a look and consider supporting.
