After many years both Kelly Anderson (“My Brooklyn”) and Jay Arthur Sterrenberg (“Dark Money”) return to the podcast to discuss the new documentary they have collaborated on called “Emergent City”. The film has its world premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival later this week.
From the festival’s website: When a string of connected industrial buildings become available in Brooklyn, a group of global developers jump at the opportunity to buy it up with big ideas for the future. Nestled against the waterfront in Sunset Park, plans are set in motion — but the beating heart of the community rests with its working class, primarily immigrant residents, many of whom could be displaced once the development changes the entire space, while others see promise in the future of a developed Industry City. And so mediation begins between residents, city officials and master planners in an effort to find a workable solution for all involved.
Then actor Chris Doubek returns to the podcast after a long hiatus to discuss a new indie sci-fi comedy he’s in called “Foil“. He’s joined by one of the film’s co-director and another of the actors in the film, Zach Green. After opting out of their high school reunion to reconnect on a desert camping trip, Rex and Dexter realize their intentions for the weekend are at odds. Dexter, a failed filmmaker, hopes to harness a fabled vortex in the area to inspire a movie. The film is available on Amazon Prime video, Apple Movies and other on demand platforms.
