The iconic actor Judd Hirsch (“Taxi”, “The Fabelmans”) is the guest. In addition to his Academy Award nomination for his role in Spielberg’s “The Fabelmans”, Hirsch is also the star of a new independent comedy called “iMordecai” which opens Friday, February 13th. The film is about a Holocaust survivor, Mordecai (Hirsch) who starts to feel like a kid again when a tech-savvy girl shows him how to use an iPhone. The film also stars Carol Kane and Sean Astin, and is directed by Marvin Samel. We recorded this conversation at a restaurant in Woodstock, NY during last year’s Woodstock Film Festival.
The documentary filmmaker Colin Askey makes his first appearance on Filmwax with his new film, “Love in the Time of Fentanyl”. Colin’s film just had a theatrical run at DCTV’s Firehouse Cinema and will premiere on PBS’s Independent Lens on Monday, February 13th. The documentary is about a group of misfits, artists and drug users operates a renegade safe-injection site in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside, giving hope to a marginalized community ravaged by drugs.
