This episode welcomes Israeli filmmaker (and now transplant), the director of “Skin“, Guy Nattiv. After a difficult childhood drives him into the grasps of a white supremacist gang, Bryon (an unrecognizable Jamie Bell, delivering a visceral, explosive performance) tries to escape to a new life, all the while questioning whether he’s capable of undoing—and repenting for—the evil he’s done. Nattiv, whose short film of the same title won the Academy Award earlier this year, makes his English-language feature debut with this galvanizing story of transformation, inspired by actual events. The film also stars past Filmwax Radio guests Danielle Macdonald and Vera Farmiga, and was edited by Filmwax Radio friend Michael Taylor (next episode’s guest). The film is being distributed by A24 and opens theatrically Friday, July 26th. This conversation was recorded at the Lighthouse International Film Festival where “Skin” was opening night film.
Israeli transplant, the filmmaker Guy Nattiv discusses his latest feature made here in the U.S., “Skin”. The film stars Jamie Bell & Danielle Macdonald and will open in theaters tomorrow, Friday, July 26th.
