Journalist & blogger Glenn Kenny is the first guest on this episode. Glenn, who created the blog Some Came Running and who contributes to a number of film related outlets including rogerebert.com, has a new book which is currently available called “Robert De Niro: Anatomy of an Actor“. The book is currently available wherever books are sold. Glenn and I discuss the book, De Niro’s career, and also remember Robin Williams, who took his life only last week.
After that I welcome filmmaker Jennifer Kroot to the podcast. Jennifer’s new documentary, “To Be Takei“, on the life and career of actor & activitst George Takei, opens theatrically and digitally on Friday, August 22nd. Jennifer’s film takes a candid look at George as well as his husband of over 20 years, Brad Altman. Brad manages George’s career. I interviewed Jennifer aboard the Queen Mary 2, docked in Brooklyn, where there was a special sneak preview screening of the film. To Be Takei had its North American premiere at Sundance earlier this year.
